What is Facial Enhancement Acupuncture?
For thousands of years, the Chinese have known that beauty comes from the inside. At least as early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD - 1270AD). Acupuncture rejuvenation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emporor's concubines. The Chinese discovered and utilised ways to change the engergy flow within the body to initiate the healing process for rejuvenation.
Facial enhancement acupuncture involves the insertion of hair thin needles into particular areas of the face, ears, neck, hands, trunk and legs along channels or meridians of energy called Qi (pronounced Chi). Many meridians either begin or end on the face, whilst other points on the body specifically affect the face.
Specific points are chosen to manipulate the movement of Qi in the body according to the individuals needs.
Facial acupuncture has been referred to as an acupuncture facelift and while it does indeed offer a viable alternative to surgery it is, in fact far more than a purely cosmetic treatment. The treatment helps to revitalise and invigorate the whole body as well as the face, helping you to both feel and look younger.

How many treatments will I need?
Most people having regular weekly treatments will notice a difference after 4-6 treatments. Everyone is different and changes depend upon; skin type, age and other health factors. I usually recommend a course of 6-12 weekly treatments depending on individual requirements. Regular top ups every 1-2 months can maintain the effects.What does the treatment invlolve?
Initially I will invite you along for a free chat to discuss what is involved in the treatment.
The first consultation and treatment involves a detailed discussion about what features you wish to concentrate on and improve. A full medical history will be taken and an initial acupuncture detox treatment will be carried out. This is an important session as it helps me tailor the treatment to your individual needs.
As a qualified Acupuncturist I may feel that certain health issues might need addressing before treatment is carried out. Certain conditions may impede the effectiveness of the facial treatment and for some people I may recommend a course of acupuncture treatment prior to commencement in order to optimise results.
Facial treatments take about an hour and needles are placed in points on the arms and legs as well as the face. The needles are disposable and extremely fine. Very little sensation is felt on insertion. The whole experience is suprisingly very relaxing and you may feel quite sleepy afterwards. This procedure is safe and effective. Sometimes there may be some slight bruising afterwards lasting for 2 or 3 days.
